Certified Translation

What is certified translation?

A certified translation is a simple translation, made by translators certified by a company, which serves to attest to the validity and quality of the translated document. To have legal value, it must be presented together with a certificate of certification (affidavit), with the signature of the translator who performed the translation and the date.

It is necessary, however, that this translator has proven experience in translation and informs whether he is a member or affiliate of any translators association in Brazil or abroad, such as the American Translators Association or Associação de Tradutores Americanos, for example.

When do I need to do a translation certification?

Generally, translation certification is required in the following cases:

Immigration documents;
Citizenship or visa application processes;
Supporting documents, such as certificates, diplomas and academic records, for cases of acceptance of documentation in foreign universities for exchange, for example;
Court transcripts;
Passports;
Birth, marriage or death certificate;
Driver's license (CNH);
Identity card, among others.

It is important to mention that most countries accept documents with a certified translation. However, it is necessary that the person always checks that the documentation has been translated correctly and that it is in accordance with the requirements of the institutions that requested the translation, as well as the rules of the countries.
